Russian Campaign in Syria Puts Washington and NATO Into Checkmate
© AP Photo/ Vladimir Isachenkov 12:41 25.10.2015 Get short URL Topic: Russia Versus ISIL in Syria (299)
The times when Washington and NATO could “run roughshod over the world” are over thanks to Russia’s counterterrorism efforts in Syria, American journalist Mark Glenn told Press TV, calling this Moscow’s “checkmate.” Washington Irritated: Russia’s Foreign Policy in Syria Wins New Allies
In Glen’s opinion, the Russian-led aerial campaign aimed at assisting Damascus is a taste of what’s to come.
Moscow appears to be saying that “the Russians are to stay militarily [in the Middle East]. Once they have finished with Western-created terrorists in Syria, they are going to move to Iraq, Egypt and Palestine. They are gradually going to militarily and politically push the United States and the West out of the region for good in the interests of global stability,” he asserted.
Those, who in Glenn’s view support terrorists, will not abandon this policy, but rather change tactics:
“The game is over. As far as trying to sell the notion to the world that the United States did not create these groups, did not nurture them, did not give them their weapons, their training and their logistics, the game is up in that regard and now the US will have to go to Plan B.”
Russia Attacks ISIL Simultaneously Across Syria to Contain Terrorists
Washington, the journalist believes, will be primarily focused on trying to counter Russia’s growing political and military influence in the region, which has been marred in violence in no small part due to the US military engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq. These campaigns are largely blamed for the rise of ISIL and growing radicalism across the Middle East.
The implications of this process could potentially be grave for humanity since the US, Glenn warned, is “very good at playing dirty tricks.”
“This is the point when it becomes very dangerous and dicey for the whole world. As much as we are all cheering on the actions of the Russians these days, the fact of the matter is that we have just opened a very dark and dangerous chapter in human history,” he noted.
According to Bible Prophecy Gog (the leader of Russia) and the EU will invade the Middle East in the Last Days coming down with great speed.  This is what we read in Ezekiel 38:15-16  “And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:  And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days…”
So it is no surprise to Bible Students to see Russia now moving into the Middle East.  This is a CLEAR SIGN of fulfilling Bible Prophecy what will end with Russia and the EU invading the Middle East at the time of the End that Ezekiel speaks of.  Today we are witnessing the build up to these very events as predicted by the Bible 3500 years ago in Ezekiel 38 and in Daniel 11.  Russia has now established a foothold which they will fully intend to maintain in the volatile Middle East.
Yet again we see in Today’s News Headlines words that show how the Nations are fulfilling the latter day alignment of Nations as Prophesied by the Bible.

The Race of Life
The world of the First Century, when the New Testament was written, was in many ways very much like today’s world. For example, people loved to watch athletics and First Century athletes were stars, just like today!
Bible writers often used pictures from everyday life that were designed to catch the attention and make their readers think. One of the pictures that’s often used is the picture of life as a race.
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown” (1 Corinthians 9:24–25).
When the apostle Paul wrote those words to the Christians in the city of Corinth, he was probably thinking of the Isthmian Games, one of the most important athletic events in the ancient world which was held in Corinth. Paul istelling his fellow Christians – you should take your race of life every bit as seriously as the athlete who trains hard and gives everything he’s got to achieve that moment of glory.
In Greek athletics the winner was often crowned with a wreath made of laurel leaves – to the athlete this was the supreme accolade, but it only lasted a few days before it started to fade. Whether it’s a laurel wreath or a gold medal, sooner or later the glory will fade and be forgotten. But the prize for the Christian is eternal life in God’s Kingdom!

Homo naledi: Geology of a Claimed Missing Link
Recent claims of a transitional species named Homo naledi have the anthropologic world in an uproar. The new fossil “species” is said to be a human-like ancestor that neatly fills the gap between the Australopithecus and our own genus Homo. This seemingly fits the human evolution story promulgated since the 19th century, but what are these bones really?

Homo naledi: Dating the Strange Ape
In the first of our three articles on this news-grabbing subject, we pointed out some strange circumstances surrounding the geology of the cave systems in which Homo naledi was discovered, as well as critical mismatches in bony body parts. This second article exposes a strange lack of evolutionary dating methods. Why has lead researcher Lee Berger, who is touring the world touting these fossils, not performed even one of several standard dating methods for fossils?

Homo naledi: Claims of a Transitional Ape
Our first article on Homo naledi addressed questions about the anatomy and geologic setting of these fossils. Our second asked why these scientists chose to not date the fossils. This third and final article explores the question of how the fossils arrived in such a remote part of the cave. This may be the toughest of the three questions to answer.

In our hearts we know that there must be more to life than simply living and dying. We look into space and consider the wonder of creation and realize there is a greater power than ourselves. We look at the complexity of the human body and realize we are not here by accident or chance. So, why are we here and what is the meaning of our existence?
For many, life is full of suffering and misery. Life often seems unfair and without meaning or purpose. But the Creator of the heaven and earth has told us there is meaning and purpose to life. He has told us there is much more to life than simply living and dying.
The Bible tells us that God wants to save all men and women from a meaningless existence and include them in His eternal plan. The Bible is a book of hope and it tells us of the way that leads to SALVATION.
Part 1: God wants all men and women to be saved.
God tells us that He wants to save all men and women:
“This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:3-4)
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
God also tells us that He will fill the earth with His glory and knowledge:
“Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.” (Psalm 72:19)
“They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:9)
“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)
God will fill the earth with His glory and knowledge by saving men and women who know God and reflect His glory. However, today we see a world that is torn apart by war, disease, poverty, suffering and disaster, and many people do not know, or want to know, anything about God. It is a world that is far from reflecting the glory of God.

Dear Mr. Putin… get on with the job!
Bible students appeal to Mr. Putin to do what the finger of God has indicated.
One hundred and fifty eight years ago, John Thomas, Author of Elpis Israel, wrote a bold letter to the Emperor Nicholas, his words are fitting for the new Autocrat.
One hundred and fifty eight years ago, John Thomas, Author of Elpis Israel, Anatolia, Eureka and other works on prophecy wrote a bold letter to the Emperor Nicholas, Autocrat and Czar of Russia – and published it as a witness for the proof of Bible prophecy.
With Vladimir Putin’s return to the role of President for the next 6-12 years, the role of Autocrat has been filled once again. In his victory speech, Putin stated:
“I promised you we would win. We have won. Glory to Russia…  We have won in an open and honest battle. We proved that no-one can force anything on us.”
Denouncing attempts to “destroy Russia’s statehood and usurp power,” he declared:
“The Russian people have shown today that such scenarios will not succeed in our land … They shall not pass!”
Canada’s National Post reported of the common Russian, “They fear he could win another term in six years and rule until 2024 – almost as long as Soviet dictator Josef Stalin.” The paper reported one Russian as saying, “Emperor Putin has decided everything.”

There’s a children’s counting song that goes like this:
“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, All good children go to heaven”.
It’s a good rhyme and might be helpful to teach children their numbers, but the theology is at best questionable and in reality just wrong.
Bible Teaching
If you are up for a challenge, here’s one. Does the Bible promise believers that they will go to heaven when they die?
Anyone who cares to read the Bible objectively, with an open mind, will discover that there is no verse to be found throughout Scripture which tells us categorically and unambiguously we go to heaven when we die.
Instead there are many verses which tell us that we do not go there, but that death is an unconscious state from which some people will be awakened at the return from heaven of the Lord Jesus Christ. Consider some of the evidence:
“No one has ascended to heaven but he who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in
Heaven” (John 3:13).
Only Jesus has gone to heaven, where he now sits in glory at his Father’s right hand (1 Peter 3:22), awaiting his return to earth. Not Abraham, not David, nor any of the people who are declared to be faithful followers of God. As the letter to the Hebrews explains, they are still awaiting their reward:
“All these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us” (Hebrews 11:39–40).
The gift of everlasting life will be theirs, and could be ours, but only when the time is right.
Jesus did not ‘come down’ from heaven in a literal sense. He only came into existence when the action of the Holy Spirit upon the womb of the virgin Mary caused Jesus to be born as “the only begotten Son of God” (Luke 1:35, John 1:18, 3:16,18).
God had always purposed to have a Son who would save the world, for He foreknows everything from the beginning.
This is what Jesus meant when he said the Son of man had “come down from heaven” (John 6:38), in just the same way that Manna had been provided from heaven (6:48-51).
Heaven: God’s Dwelling
“Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; therefore let your words be few” (Ecclesiastes 5:2).
Here is an unambiguous statement from the Old Testament telling us God lives in heaven and the earth is the place for mankind. That is a statement that is often made in Scripture. King Solomon could pray to God, asking Him: “Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive” (1 Kings 8:30). And the Psalmist declares:
“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men” (Psalm 115:16).

Bible and Science – The Conclusion of the Whole Matter
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD (Isaiah 1:18).
Science cannot prove there is a God, but neither can it establish the atheist’s opposite contention. Conversely religion cannot dismiss the findings of scientific inquiry without incurring ridicule. We have maintained throughout these articles that the pursuit of both scientific and Biblical wisdom is a valid path to travel if we seek to understand the nature of the universe and our place in it. It isn’t an either/or proposition as far as I am concerned. One shouldn’t be forced to choose one road or the other, which unfortunately are the alternatives often presented, especially to young people.
Scientists differ in their views
Some would picture science as providing a completely rational and deterministic worldview in which all things are capable of being understood. The theories of science are presumed to always be verifiable by experimentation with no need to invoke faith or a higher power to explain our existence. Religious men and women on the other hand are often inclined to dismiss science as a tool of godless men intent on defaming the word of God. Indeed the statements of some scientists could lead religious-minded people to despair and sorrow. One well-known Nobel laureate, Professor Steven Weinberg1 has written: The more the universe seems comprehensible, the more it seems pointless.2 In a later work by the same author he is even more persistent in his attack on any attempt to reconcile God and science.3As far as I know, from reading his works, Dr. Weinberg appears to be an honorable and sincere person who is certainly entitled to his opinions. Though statements like this get a lot of publicity, such conclusions should not be construed to be the definitive collective view of all scientists.
Another Nobel laureate, Professor Charles Townes, takes quite the opposite point of view on the relationship between religion and science.4 Townes has written: Many people don’t realize that science basically involves assumptions and faith. But nothing is absolutely proved. He has also written: Wonderful things in both science and religion come from our efforts based on observations, thoughtful assumptions, faith and logic. He [Townes] said that, with the findings of modern physics, it seems extremely unlikely that the existence of life is ‘just accidental.’5
Scientific theories constantly challenged
I cite these diametrically contrary views from two very distinguished Nobel laureates to illustrate it is simply not true that scientists have a uniform outlook on the relationship between science and religion.
What causes this dichotomy? The simple answer is that when insufficient data is available it is nearly impossible to achieve a definitive model that nearly all scientists will accept. This is to be expected; it is inherent in the scientific method that ongoing inquiries will continue, new ideas will be tested and methods for checking them devised. In the end, scientists are no better or worse than any other profession, but there is one facet of the scientific process that is unique; the openness that continually subjects ideas to peer scrutiny. If a scientific model is flawed or limited in its scope, sooner or later it will be exposed.
