Yahweh said unto Moses
“When ye come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the PLAGUE of LEPROSY in a HOUSE of the land of your possession…” (Lev.14:34)
Why are we told this in the Torah?
What kind of Law of Leprosy “in a house” is this?
Does this relate in any way to us or the Lord Jesus Christ?
The “Plague” (H5061_”disease, spot” here mold, rot) and represents Sin.
If the Plague Leprosy is found in a house…
“he that owneth the house shall come and tell the Priest…
” and the priest shall “LOOK” (H7200_”see, examine”) the house…
and if the plague be “in the walls” (the walls are like the ‘flesh’ of the house, Rom.7:17-20) it shall be “shut up” for seven days (Lev.14:35-38).
“THE PRIEST SHALL COME AGAIN , the 7th DAY, and shall LOOK“
and if the plague “be spread…” (it is the nature of sin to spread) “in the walls of the house…” (Lev.14:39).
- Jesus said while he was gone that “iniquity shall increase…” or “sin shall abound” (Matt.24:12).
“Then the Priest shall command that they take out THE STONES…” (Lev.14:40)
Peter says each of us are “Lively Stones, built up for a Spiritual House” (1 Peter 2:5)
but these stones here in Lev.14 are individual members of the house that are the source of the problem, that is “the plague”.
So the “Priest shall command that they take out THE STONES in which the plague is and shall CAST THEM into an unclean place OUTSIDE the City.” (Lev.14:40).
Jesus said those in the Kingdom will sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but others will be “CAST OUT into outer darkness where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matt.8:12)
Here in Lev.14, “the House shall be scraped (“cut off”) and their “dust” poured outside the City “into an unclean place AND they shall take OTHER STONES and put them in THE PLACE of those stones”. (Lev.14:42)
“And if the plague come again…” after all this, “then the Priest shall come and LOOK…” and if the plague be spread in the House, it is a “fretting” (“malignant”-rsv) Leprosy (Lev.14:43),
“And He shall BREAK DOWN THE HOUSE” with the stones and EVERYTHING and shall carry them OUTSIDE the city to an unclean place. (Lev.14:43-45)
“Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple, and when he had LOOKED round about upon all things…he went into Bethany…(Mark 11:11)
In Luke 19,
Jesus ” beheld (G1492, “eido” or to “LOOK, see, know”) the city, and wept over it…” (Luke 19:41)
(Jesus wept because of the destruction that would come upon the Jews in AD70 by the Romans)
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall LAY THEE EVEN WITH THE GROUND, and thy children within thee; and they shall NOT leave IN THEE ONE STONE stone upon another; BECAUSE thou knewest NOT the time of thy Visitation.
45 And he went into the temple, and began to CAST OUT them that sold therein, and them that bought;
46 Saying unto them, It is written, MY HOUSE is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves. ~(Luke 19:42-46)
Back to Lev.14:
but he in the House that “WASHES his clothes” and “If the Priest shall come in and LOOK and behold the plague has NOT spread in the House, then the Priest shall pronounce the House CLEAN because the plague is HEALED.” (Lev.14:47)
There was however, a sacrifice required , 2 turtledoves.
One dove (representing Christ’s First advent) had to be KILLED in “an EARTHEN VESSEL” (Lev.14:50)
The Second dove was dipped in the BLOOD of the first and “cleansed the house with the blood…” then let loose “into the open field” ALIVE (representing Christ’s present state of Immortality) “to make ATONEMENT for the House and it shall be CLEAN” . (Lev.14:51-53)
The Parable is that we must not allow sin to increase, spread, or affect others in our House or Eclessia. And it is Our High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ that can Heal us and make us Clean.
“This is The Law (“Torah“) for all plagues of Leprosy…TO TEACH when it is unclean and when it is Clean.” (Lev.14:57)
