It promised to be a long night….

As polling stations throughout the UK closed at 10pm, the BBC and the ITV pundits swung into action.

First results were expected by 11pm. One of the key ones was to be Newcastle upon Tyne, which was expected to give a strong indication of which way things would go, as it was classed as a pro- Remain area, but how strong would it be?

The first result came from little Gibraltar, with only 20,000 votes to count, it didn’t take long for that result to emerge. 96% voted to Remain, just 4% to Leave. Nigel Farage, the UKIP (UK Independence Party) leader and the man most people credit for causing the UK to hold this referendum, sounded downhearted.

The opinion polls over the past few days had seen the Leave lead decline and it was expected that the Remain vote would triumph and the markets had shown their relief by rallying. The betting agencies were confidently predicting a Remain vote too! Mr Farage‘s speech was that of a man conceding defeat.

It took much longer than expected for the Newcastle vote to be announced, it had gone midnight. There was incredulity, true it was a vote to Remain but not by the 10% or more margin that had been predicted – it was only the narrowest of victories 51/49%.

By 00.20 five results had come in, the Remain vote was still leading; time for bed!

By 06.00 the result was clear. Today we had witnessed an historic turning point in Britain’s history; Britain had turned her back on 43 years of EU membership.

Shortly after 08.00 David Cameron stood outside No10 Downing Street with his wife standing to his side and declaring that the British people had voted to leave and as this had gone against what he personally had campaigned for, he wished to stand down in the coming months so that a new leader could begin the negotiations to take Britain out of the EU. His voice was breaking with emotion as he turned his back on the job he had been elected to do. There will be many contenders for the job, foremost of

whom is expected to be the charismatic Boris Johnson

who until recently was the mayor of London. As such he knows the importance of bringing the City, Britain’s powerhouse, behind the new pathway for Britain. He has a keen sense of history and is passionate for a stronger Britain.

A Dis-United Kingdom

The final map of how the United Kingdom – England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland voted, indicates that the country is divided. Unlike in UK General elections, which uses the ‘first-past- the-post’ system of electing MP’s, in this referendum every vote counted; the end result was the total of everybody’s votes added to give a running total.

By adding up the votes for the four parts of the UK it was clear that Scotland and Northern Ireland (together with London and the Home Counties), had firmly voted to Remain, while the majority of the rest of the country wanted to Leave. With 62% of the voters in Scotland voting Remain, this will put pressure for another vote by Scotland as to whether to break away from the rest of the Union. Although representing 32% of the UK’s area, she only accounts for 8% of the UK population. Northern Ireland similarly, 6% area, 3% population. The current low price for oil,

means that Scotland is much weaker financially than she was before and it is hard to see how she could survive breaking away and becoming independent.

Market reaction

The financial and stock markets reacted as would be expected. The pound plunged to levels not seen since the 1980’s. This is what markets do; the medium term reaction will only be known by the time you are reading this. Most of the UK banks are concerned with local dealings, it is those that specialise in overseas trading who will feel the initial pressures. A weaker pound will give a boost to exports, which is what Britain thrives on and many traders have felt that the pound is over-valued. Again it is far too early to see where it ends.

Whither Britain now?

To many Bible students this is an historic day. Many were disappointed that Britain joined the Common Market, as the EU was then known and for 43 years Britain has chafed at the growing realisation that the club she had joined had been slowly changing and was now far from the “just for trading” market that she had been led to believe. It has taken a long time for the British to wake up to the reality of where the EU is heading.

The recent release of cabinet papers from the time of Britain’s joining, show that the UK leaders deliberately deceived the public as to what they were being asked to vote on. This was revealed in a fascinating article entitled Monumental deceit: How our politicians have lied and lied about the true purpose of the European behemoth that Christopher Booker wrote for the Daily Mail 01-Jan-13, to mark the 40th anniversary of Britain’s membership.

On the day we entered, he [Prime Minister Edward Heath] told the British people on television that any fears that ‘we shall in some way sacrifice independence and sovereignty’ were ‘completely unjustified’.

This was a deliberate lie, as no one knew better than him and the senior Foreign Office official who two years earlier had written a secret paper on ‘Sovereignty’.

The paper chillingly spelled out how it would be the end of the century before the British people woke up to how much of their power to govern themselves and make their own laws had been given away — by which time it would be too late.Bible Magazine Summer 2016 part 2_Page_2_Image_0001

Well it was not quite too late. Due to pressure, mainly from the UKIP Party, that has long pointed out the problems that the EU causes Britain, there has been a growing desire for the British public to have their say in Britain’s destiny. France and Germany are determined to drive Europe towards the ever- closer political union, which was the aim built into the very first treaty of the original six-member Coal and Steel Community and incorporated into successive Treaties.

The passage of time has made this increasingly obvious. So yesterday Britain decided to vote to leave by a small, but sufficient margin and plough her own furrow, free from the

shackles of Europe; to rebuild her traditional links with the world as an independent country.

What has God declared?

We know that God rules in the Kingdoms of Men and we are exhorted to be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. (Rom. 13:1) So it was God’s Will that Britain should join, but afterwards come out. It certainly was a test of our faith, as our traditional viewpoint was that Britain had a role to play which was not as part of the Beast/Dragon/False Prophet system of Rev. 16.

Britain’s joining caused many to look at other interpretations of scripture, and as Britain’s power declined following her earlier withdrawal from the Middle East, the thought of Britain being the Latter-Day Tarshish power seemed incredulous to many. Hence new interpretations. But gradually Britain’s role changed, she has been re-invigorated. She is building strong ties to Israel and the Arab world. And now she has thrown over the shackles of a continental system, supported by the Vatican, to hopefully build upon her Protestant work ethic and zeal, to rebuild her links with the Commonwealth.

True she is a nation far from God, but it is not insignificant that we are 70 years on from a Britain, battered, bruised and broken in her efforts to save Europe from a Germany bent on establishing the Third Reich as a German-centred world. Seventy years on how different the world looks. The eurozone is in deep financial trouble. Greece is so indebted that there seems little future for her within the euro. Italy and Spain are also in financial trouble. Even France and Germany are in a rocky position. This Brexit may well be the final straw that breaks the EU as we know it. Perhaps a European Euroclydon to match the Arab Spring?

After 70 years Tyre shall sing

And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.

Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.

And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.

And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing. Isa. 23:15-18

Here we are just 70 years on from the end of WWII, (02-Sep-45) and Britain is setting out on a new path, away from the power that will form the Western Leg of Nebuchadnezzar’s image as it strides onto the mountains of Israel to destroy Israel as a nation.

As part of the powers that oppose this, will be found Britain as the Tarshish power once more.

Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee

{Gog], Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil? Eze. 38:13

Ultimately this newly found independence will be to bring God’s people back to their land in the difficult times that lie beyond Armageddon. The time detailed in Revelation 17 when with the might of the Dragon broken and buried in Israel (Eze. 39:11), the Papacy (the Harlot Woman), rallies Europe (the Beast), against the Lord Jesus whom they will see as Anti-Christ! Britain’s role is to work with Israel’s newly returned King and Saviour. How thrilling it is to see these things unfold before our eyes; seemly on time, to the year! To feel a deep sense of gratitude for those who have gone before us who through their Bible studies have teased out a Biblical perspective that we have seen come to pass step by step. Yes, they were impatient, so has every generation since the disciples asked their Lord “Wilt thou at this time restore again the Kingdom to Israel?” We don’t know the hour and the day, what we do know is that the situation is complex and it takes time to arrive at the stated destination. How many more have had the opportunity to embraced the gospel message because the Lord hasn’t come back as quickly as we expected? It is all running according to God’s timetable! Let us take courage and strengthen our brothers and sisters to look up, for surely our redemption draweth nigh.

Bible Truth & Prophecy is an exciting on-line tool for establishing just how far removed from the teachings of the Bible mainstream Christian teaching has become.

End Time Prophecies are interpreted using the Bible, not man made ideas or notions.
Key Biblical subjects such as the Trinity, Devil/Satan worship, Holy Spirit Gifts & much more are all dealt with extensively from the Bible’s viewpoint and not man’s.

We will demonstrate how Christian beliefs have become corrupted, and reveal the ‘Truth’ as taught by the 1st Century Apostles.
