From Today’s Daily Readings
1 And HEZEKIAH sent to all ISRAEL and JUDAH , and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of Yahweh at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover unto Yahweh Elohim of Israel.
2 For the King had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the Passover in THE SECOND MONTH.
3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.
The Passover was on the fourteenth day of THE FIRST MONTH (Lev.23:5), but because the priests were ritually unclean, they planned it for THE SECOND MONTH.
17 For there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the passovers for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them unto Yahweh.
18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had NOT cleansed themselves, YET did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. BUT HEZEKIAH PRAYED FOR THEM, saying, Good Yahweh PARDON every one
19 That prepareth his heart to seek God, Yahweh the God of his fathers, though he be NOT cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.
20 And YAHWEH hearkened to Hezekiah, and HEALED the people.
Hezekiah prayed for the people and God healed, or made them clean. He was an “intercessor” like Christ (Isiah 53:12).
21 And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread SEVEN DAYS with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised Yahweh day by day, singing with loud instruments unto Yahweh.
22 And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of Yahweh: and they did eat throughout the feast SEVEN DAYS , offering peace offerings, and making confession to the Yahweh the God of their fathers.
23 And the whole assembly took counsel to keep ANOTHER SEVEN DAYS: and they kept ANOTHER SEVEN DAYS with gladness.
So why was there a second Passover the following week?
The Passover was kept here in 2nd month , that is Another (2nd) seven days , when it will be kept in the 7000 Millennial Rest of the Kingdom Age.
This points to the 2nd time when Jesus will partake in The Passover with his elect (Luke 22:15-16)…
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, UNTIL it be fulfilled in THE KINGDOM of GOD.
The Bible is full of “types” of the Lord Jesus Christ from beginning to end. He is “The Word” made flesh.
2 Chron. 30 is a Great panoramic vision of the Kingdom indeed!
There is much more that can be said of this topic illustrating how Hezekiah is a “type” of the Christ. For example: Many people do not realize that Isaiah 53 actually has a Present Day application to Hezekiah and of course a Greater Future application to the Messiah. Here is a short list of Hezekiah as “type” of Christ from Isaiah 53:
Isa.53:2 no decorative or beauty to be desired , there was nothing glorious looking about Jesus and he was mauled at his death beyond normal recognition (Isa.52:14). So I believe there would be a Present Day application here also. We are told Hezekiah’s father, Ahaz, had made his son pass through the fire (2 King.16:2-3). Could this “son” have been Hezekiah? If so, Hezekiah may have also been “marred” beyond recognition and could be the reason he didn’t marry till so much later in life and Yahweh had to “prolong his days” so he could have a seed (Isa.53:10).
Isa.53:10 YHWH bruised Hezekiah because he had NO seed to carry on the line of Kings promised to David, but “he shall see his seed”, Hezekiah had his son Manassah after that; like the Jesus Christ will see his seed (spiritual seed) in his Kingdom.
26 There was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.
